Indyweek.com Interview

Here is a link to an interview with the Avetts and Dolph Ramseur concerning their move to Columbia records and their new partnership with Rick Rubin.

"The band's next Triangle show—a July 26 headlining set at Cary's Koka Booth Amphitheatre—reflects seven years of building a fan base from small Triangle venues like The Cave and Kings to Cat's Cradle and, last summer, the sold-out N.C. Museum of Art."

Those of us who were at Kings/The Cave in 2003-2004 have known for a long time that this day would eventually come.

More Thoughts on American/Columbia

As part of their new partnership with Columbia records, Rick Rubin will be producing the Avett Brothers' upcoming album. American records is Rubin's imprint on Columbia Records, and it was Rubin who famously worked with Johnny Cash in his later years, producing 4 of Cash's last records. In 2003 The Man Comes Around won a grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. Rubin's track record goes on for days. This is clearly a turning point in the Avetts' career, and I know many like me are enthralled at what Rubin can and will do with the Avetts' sound.
